An obviously simple social strategy:
If you believe something stinks (a musician, movie, politician, news outlet, restaurant, retailer, manufacturing company, etc.), ignore them!
Don't spout negative reviews and/or profane critiques of how bad such-and-such is; instead, only focus on positive alternatives.
Demeaning someone's talent or something's brand can be picque curiosity from onlookers: "Oh, can XYZ really be that terrible? I have to find out now."
This leads to even more attention - a trait that undeserving hacks crave. No press is bad press, even bad press.
So don't fuel the fire with hate. Simply forget about it and move to to praise an artist or business worth your time.
