Two Evel Knievels of emotionally-charged poetic stunts, the allied might of B. Dolan and Sage Francis form Epic Beard Men.
Simply described: this is razor sharp Hip-Hop with the most vulnerable boom-bap, brassy bravado. It's personally provocative, it's keenly comical, it's rewindably witty, it's strangely famous and you need it in your life.
With a group name inspired by an absurd 2010 viral video featuring an unsuspectingly tough elderly man - with a great beard - laying the smackdown on a younger opponent aboard a bus, the ne'er clean shaven Dolan and Francis definitely drop hammers of their own.
Armed specifically with dizzying lyrics, the Rhode Island natives are set to prove the sum can be greater than the parts. Both have earned their general's stripes as accomplished solo artists, but felt the time was right to debut their new tag team. Having honed their craft together on tours and in the studio for a decade, these battle-tested DYI emcees are as cagey as ever on 'Season 1', the duo's first official release.
Just prior to releasing this EP [available now!], Epic Beard Men rolled out the lead single "Five Hearts" in connection with a web video game of the same title.
A side-scrolling, 16-bit-style beat 'em up, players can take control of avatars of Francis and/or Dolan to roundhouse kick through waves of undesirables much the same way their real life counterparts fight to be heard.
Not the types to rest on their laurels with the spoils of past victories, Epic Beard Men are hitting the road to recruit more likeminded listeners to join their bearded battalion. And this is a war where you'll want to choose to represent the correct side... even if you can't even muster any peach fuzz on that chin.
