How to Properly Use the Word "Myself"

Quick grammar rant alert!!

People who don't know how to properly use "myself" are the worst. It does not make you sound smarter when misused. Myself is NOT an automatic, high-brow pronoun substitute; it* should never be any part of a sentence's subject, only as an object.

You never tell someone "Myself went to the store". [Hopefully you don't...] So why attempt saying "Alex and myself went to the store"?

My face when people misuse the word "myself".
It's "I"!

"Alex and I went to the store."

"Myself" should strictly be used to indicate, confirm or emphasize that you completed something solo.

The word is indeed a pronoun, but almost used as an adverb.

"I went to the store by myself."

Or

"Yes, I - myself - am the sole survivor!"

*Himself, herself, yourself, themselves and ourselves can fall into the same category, dependent on the subject of course.
