It’s Open Season on Good Music at Bill’s Bar

Sioux Falls Hip-Hop Duo Joins Sioux City Stalwarts for One Funky Show

At a passing glance, Matthew Andal and Cory Foster might look like two regular Midwesterners. Inconspicuous, laid back dudes from Sioux Falls. Sure, we’ll buy it.

That is until they take it to the stage and begin proclaiming poetic manifestos atop jumping, jazz melodies.

Emcee Cory Foster expounds, “The reason music (especially Hip-Hop) is amazing and universal is because it allows people to let loose. This goes for the musician as well as the crowd.”

Together as Midwest Blessed, Foster and Andal's music reflects the seriousness of the everyday lives they lead but can amplify a party at the drop of any [turntable] needle. Definitively and uniquely Midwest Hip-Hop, to be certain.

“Being able to write and perform lyrics gives us a chance to influence the world, and say things that we otherwise wouldn't,” Foster continued.

Ridiculously photogenic crowd
"So when we make music, we want to entertain people, but also stay true to ourselves. In a way that explains why we are blessed - while being ourselves, we have managed to also be successful as small town kids from South Dakota... Thus the name Midwest Blessed fits us perfectly."

High school friends from Brandon, South Dakota, Andal and Foster began making music as teens almost a decade ago. Officially teaming up in 2007, the duo has garnered quite a following, from college co-eds to nine-to-five workaholics. They've shared stages with acts such as Prof (Minneapolis), Mac Lethal (Kansas City), Heiruspecs (St. Paul), Grieves (Seattle), Doomtree (Twin Cities) and the Purveyors of the Conscious Sound (Omaha).

On Saturday April 12, the fellas will bring their flavor down I-29 to join Sioux City favorites The Gateway Drug, The Buddha Cheese Band and The Omniscient Troubadours for a gun-blazing concert dubbed Funk Hunt at Bill's Bar.

In the meantime, check out their BRAND NEW music video "Won't Change":
